Swap a green screen backdrop for a color or a photo

Filmed yourself in front of a green or blue screen? Attach the clip to ToolGPT and it shows a frame of your own video with the backdrop removed and new backgrounds behind you. Pick one, and the keyed video is made in your browser.

What it can do

  • Five backgrounds

Black, white, gray or blue, or a photo you attach, scaled to fill the frame and centered, never stretched.

  • Previews you can trust

Each tile is a frame of your own video, keyed with the exact color the final file will use.

  • Adjustable tolerance

Ask for a looser key when a green fringe is left, or a tighter one when part of you disappears.

  • Soft or hard edges

Set how soft the edge of the cut-out is, from crisp to feathered, to suit hair and motion.

  • Name the backdrop color

The color is read from the border of the frame. If your screen does not reach the edges, give it as a hex code such as #00B140.

  • Sound carried over

The audio normally passes through unchanged. Save the video as MP4, WEBM, MKV or MOV.

How it works

  1. 1

Attach the clip, and a photo if you want one

Add the green screen video with the + button. To put a picture behind you, attach that photo as well.

  2. 2

    Pick a background from previews

Ask ToolGPT to replace the backdrop, then tap the background you like on the tiles drawn from your frame.

  3. 3

    Download the new video

The keyed video appears in the chat, ready to download. The original clip is not changed.

A color key, not AI background removal

This tool removes every pixel close to one color, so it needs a plain, evenly colored backdrop such as a green or blue screen. It cannot remove an ordinary room, a street or a wall from behind you, and ToolGPT says so instead of trying. A black, white or gray backdrop has too little color to key and is refused.

Because it works by color, anything on you that matches the screen goes too: a green shirt in front of a green screen shows the new background through it. Green light reflected onto skin and hair is toned down.

Getting a clean result

One key color is used for the whole clip, and nothing is tracked. If the light on the screen changes during the video, later parts may key less evenly than the preview frame. Even lighting and a screen that fills the edges of the shot give the best results.

If the first try leaves a green outline, ask for a looser key. If parts of your face or clothes vanish, ask for a tighter one. The video has no transparency, so there is always something behind you: one of the four colors, or your photo.

Frequently asked questions

Can it remove a background that is not a green screen?

No. It needs a solid, evenly lit color backdrop such as a green or blue screen.

Can I get a video with a transparent background?

No. The output always has a background: black, white, gray, blue or a photo you attach.

Does it work with a blue screen?

Yes. The key color is read from your frame, and you can name it yourself if the preview keys the wrong thing.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The backdrop is keyed in your browser, and your background photo stays on your device too.
