ToolGPT

Resize an image for your LinkedIn background photo

LinkedIn recommends 1584 × 396 pixels for a profile background photo, a thin 4:1 strip. Attach a picture, choose the part to keep, and ToolGPT crops and resizes it to that size.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the picture

A wide photo or a design works best: the banner is four times wider than it is tall.

  2. 2

    Choose the strip

Ask for a 4:1 crop and say which part to keep, or drag the box in Custom crop on the crop card.

  3. 3

    Resize to 1584 × 396

The banner is written at LinkedIn's size. Download it and add it to your profile.

From photo to 4:1 banner

A 4:1 strip is a thin slice of most photos. ToolGPT works it out from your picture when you ask for 4:1, keeping the middle unless you say top or bottom. For full control, Custom crop on the crop card lets you drag the box or type its size in pixels, such as 3168 × 792, exactly twice LinkedIn's size.

The strip is then resized to exactly 1584 × 396. LinkedIn's help page asks for a JPG or PNG file under 8 MB, and a banner of this size is well under that.

Leave room for your photo

Your profile picture covers part of the banner, so keep text and logos away from the edges and check the result on your profile after uploading.

Everything is done in your browser, and your original picture isn't changed.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my banner look blurry?

A small picture enlarged to 1584 pixels wide loses sharpness, because enlarging invents detail. Start from a picture at least that wide.

Does ToolGPT change my LinkedIn profile?

No. It makes the file; you upload it on LinkedIn.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. It stays on your device; the work is done in your browser.
