ToolGPT

Make a square profile picture from any photo

Profile pictures are square, and most sites show them as a circle. Pick the square that keeps your face in the middle, and ToolGPT resizes it to the size you need.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach a photo of you

Any photo where your face is clear. A little space around your head helps.

  2. 2

    Pick the square

ToolGPT shows the square drawn on your photo. Say “keep the top” if the centre square cuts off your head.

  3. 3

    Resize and download

Ask for a size, such as 400 × 400. The new picture is a separate file, and your original stays as it was.

Square in, circle out

Most apps store your profile picture as a square and show it as a circle, so the corners are hidden. ToolGPT crops squares, not circles: keep your face in the middle of the square and the app's circle will frame it.

X's help page recommends 400 × 400 pixels, and a square of 400 × 400 or more suits most sites. Bigger is fine, since sites scale the picture down; a picture smaller than the site expects can look soft.

A cleaner background

If the background is busy, ToolGPT can also put a photo of a person on a plain white, grey or coloured background, or make it transparent. That runs in your browser too, and it works on photos of people, not pets or objects.

Frequently asked questions

Can ToolGPT crop a circle?

No. It makes a square, and the site you upload it to shows it as a circle.

What size should a profile picture be?

Check the site's own advice. A square of 400 × 400 pixels or more suits most of them.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It's cropped and resized in your browser.
