ToolGPT

Compress an image to 100 KB or less

100 KB is a common limit for profile photos, job portals and forms. Tell ToolGPT the limit and it finds the highest JPEG quality that fits; if the picture has too many pixels for that, you're told what it reached.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the image

A JPG, PNG or WEBP, added with the + button. One image per size limit.

  2. 2

    Name the limit

Say “under 100 KB”, and add a pixel size if you have one in mind. ToolGPT does both in one step.

  3. 3

    Download the smaller copy

The new file appears in the chat with its size. Your original is kept.

What fits in 100 KB

At 100 KB a photo can still look good on a screen, as long as it isn't too big in pixels. A picture around 1,000 pixels across often fits at a medium quality. A full-size phone photo usually doesn't fit, even at the lowest quality ToolGPT uses, which is 30.

So when you ask for 100 KB, you can name a pixel size in the same message, for example 1,200 px on the long side. ToolGPT resizes and compresses in one step, keeps the photo's shape, and picks the best quality that fits under the limit.

PNG images and screenshots

A PNG is compressed by writing it as a JPEG or a WEBP, because PNG has no quality setting to lower. Transparent areas turn white in a JPEG. Sharp text in a screenshot can look soft at a low quality, so for a screenshot a smaller pixel size is often the better trade.

Many images at once

A size limit applies to one image at a time. For a whole set, ask ToolGPT to compress them and pick one of its options: Recommended, Small file, High quality or Smallest. Each option shows the size it will produce for your images before you tap it, and the work runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Will the result be exactly 100 KB?

No, it will be under 100 KB, usually a little under, because ToolGPT keeps the first quality setting that fits.

What happens if it can't reach 100 KB?

You get a message with the smallest size it managed at that pixel size, instead of a file over the limit.

Is my original kept?

Yes. You get a new file with “-compressed” in its name, and the original is never changed.
